Goggy and I went to the zoo. Actually it was on his request. Yet another example of how my life is dictated by an “almost” 2 year old.
He specifically wanted to see the turtles and “helliphants”. Who am I to stand in his way.
When we got there he said “Yeah we made it!!!” and proceeded to walk in. The Goggy asked the guy at the gate about the monkeys. I was so proud that my little squirt was so concerned about the well beings of the primates at the zoo.
The first thing he stopped at was the carousal. He went up to the railings, climbed up and looked in like it was the most amazing thing he saw since the thing he saw 5mins ago.
I was tempted to get him a ticket, but then thought it would be more fun to let him see it a few more times and let the excitement build up before he gets a chance to ride it. It’ll make it more memorable for him.
The next thing we saw were the giraffes in the savanna enclosure. He ran to the fence and peered in letting me know it was a giraffe eating mum mums. He gets so proud of his little discoveries. Then he saw the lookout tower with the wobbly steps. He decides to climb up this all by himself. Infact all the way up he mutters “be careful” ”I can do it” and “I did it, Yeah”.
I think for him the train was his favourite part of the trip. We rode that next and he just loved sitting there all independant like, eating his chips and looking at the animals. After the guided trip was over he climbed out of that train and climbed into the next… “again”.
I love this age. It is so cute, funny and can also be so totally gross. Just before we left he was at a picnic table drinking his ”horange juice” when he noticed some bird poop. Before I could even stop him he was prodding his finger in it saying “look, look mommy”… UGH… I immediatley cleaned him off with wet wipes followed by an extra long soapy hand-wash song in the nearest bathroom…. UGH
For the past month or more the Goggy has taken to dumping his milk or whatever he is drinking out whilst in his car seat. Which in turn leads to a ton of commotion from me frantically trying to clean the mess up before it dries and becomes a weird stench in the car. A smell that the Babby aptly refers to as “OMG its stinks like a Rhino POOPED in the car”. Each time the Goggy does this I tell him it is naughty and he shouldn’t do it. Each time he repeats back to me “Baby no drop Mikky” “Okay Mommy”. Then he gives me that big 2 teeth smile that says “I’m so cute that even if I do it again you’ll forgive me”. The sad part is I will.
Little paleontologist decided he wants to become an author when he grows up. The Babby has gone through a couple of career changes in his lifetime, the major ones that stick out are: software engineer (after all what child doesn’t want to be just like daddy), Paleontologist, he has been asking for quite some time now what he needs to do to become a paleontologist. Now this morning he asks me to help him become an “Author”. A recent book project his been the inspiration for this shift in career choice. I have to say I am very impressed by his enthusiasm and want to take things further, I really love that passion he develops that motivates him to dig deeper. I wonder how many more careers he is going to go through before he finds his true calling (or if he really does end up being a paleontologist that writes stories for a hobby).
